Privacy Policy

TaskSplitter ("we", "us", "our") is a mobile app that helps groups split recurring household or team tasks fairly. This policy explains what data we collect through the app, why, and how you can access, correct, or delete it. It applies to the TaskSplitter iOS and Android apps.

1. Information we collect

Creating an account and using the app involves the following data:

• Account information: your email address (used for sign-in and account recovery) and the display name you choose.
• Preferences: your selected language and theme, and whether you've completed the app's onboarding.
• Group and task data: the groups you create or join, the tasks defined in those groups, and the daily task assignments ("todo items") generated for you and visible to other members of your group(s). If you propose or respond to a task trade with another member, that negotiation (which tasks are offered/accepted) is also stored.
• Push notification token: a device token used solely to deliver notifications about your pending tasks, group activity, and trade requests. It is stored separately from your profile and never shared with other users.
• Feedback you submit: if you send feedback or a bug report from the app, the message is emailed to our support address along with your account email and user ID so we can reply to you.

We do not collect payment or financial information — the app has no in-app purchases at this time.

2. How we use your information

• To operate the core service: distributing tasks fairly among your group's members and showing you your and others' assignments.
• To send you push and email notifications about pending tasks, group membership changes, and task trades.
• To respond to feedback, bug reports, or support requests you send us.

We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties.

3. Third-party service providers

We use the following providers to operate the app. Each only processes data on our behalf, under their own privacy policies:

Supabase Expo Resend

• Supabase — our database, authentication, and backend hosting provider. supabase.com/privacy
• Expo — delivers push notifications to your device. expo.dev/privacy
• Resend — delivers transactional emails (feedback messages, account confirmation/password reset emails). resend.com/legal/privacy-policy

4. Data retention

Your account and group/task data are retained for as long as your account exists. Task assignments are regenerated daily and old ones are cleared automatically as part of normal app operation. If you leave a group, your pending tasks in that group are reassigned to remaining members.

5. Your rights and account deletion

You can permanently delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete Account in the app. This immediately and permanently removes your profile, push token, task assignments, and group memberships.

If you're located in the European Economic Area or another jurisdiction with similar data protection laws, you also have the right to request access to, correction of, or a copy of your personal data, independent of in-app deletion. Contact us using the email below to exercise these rights.

6. Children's privacy

TaskSplitter is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age.

7. Security

Data is transmitted over encrypted (HTTPS/TLS) connections. Access to your data within our database is restricted by row-level security policies, so other users can only see data relevant to groups you share with them (e.g. group tasks), never your account credentials.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves (for example, when we introduce optional paid subscriptions). We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do; material changes will also be announced in-app.
